It’s not uncommon for professional adults to fall into hard times at some point or another. Given the current economic turbulence, organizations and donors dedicating countless hours and clothing to these individuals – selflessly offering their personal experiences, educated insight and professional guidance – are stretching themselves to go above and beyond for an even larger population in need.
In identifying the increased demand on organizations offering assistance to the unemployed, FrontStreet decided it was time to help America’s workforce “get back to work,” and looked local first, electing to reach out to Dress for Success Brookhaven. This Suffolk County affiliate of Dress for Success Worldwide is located in Farmingville, NY, and is sponsored by the town of Brookhaven’s Department of Housing and Human Services, Division of Women’s Services.
The FrontStreet Buttoned Up Drive enlisted the help of employees, asking them to donate gently-used business attire. The drive accepted professional attire and accessories, such as suits, shirts, blazers, blouses, pants, skirts, shoes, ties, belts, purses, scarves and jewelry.
At the close of the drive, FrontStreet employees had donated 217 items for Dress for Success Brookhaven. The clothing, shoes and handbags help give program participants the competitive edge necessary in a challenging job market, and FrontStreet looks forward to making the Buttoned Up Drive an annual event.
“Thanks to FrontStreet’s recent clothing drive, our Dress for Success Brookhaven affiliate will be happily serving more women in the upcoming season. We know how much time and hard work goes into putting together such an event, and we truly appreciate all of their effort.”
